Bree McCann

Model, influencer, founder of swimwear label Code B, Peregian Beach

- Fashion editor ANNABEL FALCO annabelfalco

Considered, classic and comfortable, Bree McCann’s wardrobe is as cool as you would expect it to be. The Queensland model and Code B swimwear founder favours minimal designs and contemporary styles with neutral tones, vintage denim, tailoring and luxury accessories at the fashion forefront. Missing the Eurostar for Burberry is a bold (but celebrated!) move, and it is clear McCann is more than someone who wears clothes well. I’m ready to travel the world and source fashion with you, Bree!

How would you describe your style? I am quite a uniform dresser. I like neutral tones, casual looks and classic pieces. I’m not overly girly but I gravitate towards things that are a little sexy and show shape.

Who are your style icons? Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid.

What’s the oldest item in your wardrobe? I have A LOT of vintage denim! I associate different denim with different times in my life and different places I have lived. I like to keep them for memories.

What are your favourite brands? Camilla and Marc, Dion Lee, Blanca, Helmut Lang, Posse, Nagnata, Matteau and Venroy.

Have you ever made a style faux pas? Haha, yes, all the time! I don’t mind a bit of chaos in my wardrobe.

What’s the most you have spent on an outfit? I think probably an Isabel Marant leather skirt and Chanel Boy bag from my New York days would max the list.

What is the most surprising thing in (or

about) your wardrobe? I actually don’t have that much considering I’ve worked in fashion for more than a decade. I like to keep it fairly tight and I’m quite selective about what stays. I have just done a huge wardrobe clean out with Lisa from the ThePrelovedCloset so most of it is available.

Top three wardrobe must haves? A good leather jacket, a black suit you love and swimwear that makes you feel amazing – Code B of course.

What is the most sentimental item in your wardrobe? A Burberry jacket I bought after my first modelling job in Paris in 2010. It was my first luxury purchase and I missed my Eurostar back to London because of it but it was worth it. I hardly ever wear it anymore but I still look at it and smile.

What would you buy if money was no object? A stylist to travel the world with me and source beautiful pieces everywhere.

Summer or winter fashion? Summer.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I would say about 40 pairs.

Best designer fashion purchase this year? A black Bottega Veneta wallet.

Best bargain fashion purchase this year? Beige Adidas Adilette slides for $30.

Three beauty products you can’t live without. Ultra Violette SPF50 Lip Balm, Augustinus Bader The Cream, and Emma Lewisham Supernatural Sleeping Mask.
