Following the Venus and Neptune convergence, it’s the sun and Saturn’s turn to connect. If yesterday was about learning what our hearts must let go of, today we’re being encouraged to visualise what we hope to build in its place. It’s time to ask ourselves if we’re ready to make the commitment required in order to turn wishful thinking into realistic expectation. By focusing on what’s important, and remaining determined to make it work, there’s little we can’t achieve. Aim high today.

ARIES MAR 21 – APR 20

Every topic, no matter how obscure, has its experts. Unfortunately they don’t always know quite as much as they think they do. In fact, they only need to know a bit more than most other people to be considered to have expertise. Then they take that small extra amount of knowledge and stretch it a long way, which can be problematic. They can advise us to do things that we definitely shouldn’t do, or inform us that we’re incapable able of doing something we’re capable of. Follow your own advice today. You know best.

LEO JUL 24 – AUG 23

Why are you doing what you do? Most people would ask “why do I do what?”, but not you. Circuitous acts of self-interrogation aren’t your cup of tea. I mean that as a compliment. I’m asking because it’s possible that some of the factors currently driving you might not be as relevant as they once were. Without pausing to ask the question, we sometimes find ourselves driven too far – by commitment, conviction and by habit. As your ruler, the sun, links to Saturn, you can set aside an ambition that has become a burden.

SAGITTARIUS NOV 23 – DEC 21

Alanis Morissette sums it up perfectly: “You live, you learn. You love, you learn. You cry”. Life isn’t easy, but if we’re singing about it, surely that says something about our resilience? You don’t need me to tell you you’re on a journey towards understanding, but you’d like to have an idea of what’s in store. As the sun links to Saturn, the great cosmic teacher, you feel as if you’re preparing for a test you’re not sure you need to take. But if you think creatively, you’ll realise you know the answers, and they’ll give you reasons to sing.

TAURUS APR 21 – MAY 21

We all interpret our astrological forecasts in the way that suits us. I have to bear this in mind when I’m writing. If I say, “you’re capable of achieving great success today,” some people will anticipate winning the jackpot, and if their numbers don’t come up, they’ll be disappointed and possibly disillusioned. But success can’t always be defined by dramatic wins. Sometimes a small success occurs, and it’s only later that we realise the value of its effects. If you frame your expectations realistically you can expect success today.

VIRGO AUG 24 – SEP 23

If only we could make a choice and be happy with it. No ifs and buts. No could-have-beens and should-have-beens. You’re facing such a complicated situation that you’re almost overwhelmed with options. No wonder you’re hesitating and seeking advice. But the more opinions you hear, the more complex it seems to get. Suppose you were able to extricate yourself from the minefield of possibilities and just do the next most obvious thing? It’s by taking a small step, and then another, that you’ll find a clear route forwards.

CAPRICORN DEC 22 – JAN 20

New ideas often seem to hold more potential than old ones. Even though innovation is scary, we still find it attractive, yet many old ideas are wise and valid. If they’re still floating around it’s because they’ve stood the test of time. One way to make an old idea more appealing is to dress it up as a new one – which might be all you need to do if you want to feel more motivated today. As the sun links to your ruler, Saturn, looking back and reinventing your attitude might be the best ways to sort out a tiresome, exasperating situation.

GEMINI MAY 22 – JUN 22

Was it ever thus? Or was there a time when things were different? Maybe our ancestors dreamt of an idyllic utopia based on memories as false as our own. Maybe humans are destined to move forwards while always looking wistfully back at the good old days. But since the time-space continuum is circular (rather than linear), maybe we’ll never know whether we’re really going forwards or backwards. Instead of looking at where you’re going today, go where you’re looking and you’ll make excellent progress.

LIBRA SEP 24 – OCT 23

We see what we want to see, and if we don’t quite know what we want to see, we see what we believe we should be seeing. If we’re feeling enthusiastic and passionate about something, we find it hard to believe that we’re seeing only part of the picture. To ensure you’re seeing what you need to see, you need to reframe your expectations and reassess. Unless you open your mind to new information, your view of the possibilities ahead will be so narrow that you might overlook the one that needs to be seized.

AQUARIUS JAN 21 – FEB 19

John Lennon once said that “life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”. It’s a great saying, and it neatly underlines why your ability to improvise is such a talent. You’re good at living in the moment, going with the flow and soaking up all that life brings your way. But sometimes it’s wise to stand back and reassess. As the sun links with your traditional ruler, Saturn, some advanced planning would benefit you. So long as you have a clear view of where you’re headed towards, you can have fun along the way.

CANCER JUN 23 – JUL 23

The ability to switch our emotions off is an essential human trait. It enables us to perform tasks even when we’re consumed by feelings. But we need to be able to switch them back on again. If the switch gets stuck in either the off or the on position, we’re in trouble. But if it keeps flicking between the two, that’s normal. Under the sun/Saturn link, you might find yourself negating your natural sensitivity. Just because you’re under pressure to solve a problem doesn’t mean you have to ignore your feelings. It can wait.

SCORPIO OCT 24 – NOV 22

Sometimes, even though we don’t know why we’re doing something, we do it anyway. We might, for example, be overwhelmed by an emotion that makes us do (or say) things we regret. But even regrettable moments can lead to positive change. I’m not condoning or justifying bad behaviour, though a difficult development for which you feel responsible could turn out to be helpful for everyone concerned. If you forgive yourself and look for positives, it could transform an unsatisfactory situation into a satisfactory one.

PISCES FEB 20 – MAR 20

People have very different ways of problem-solving. Some rely on their intellect. Others follow their heart. Some make careful calculations and weigh up all the options. Others jump in, all guns blazing. As for you, you pride yourself on the power of your intuition. You have an instinctive sense about people and situations that almost always leads you to make the right decision. The legacy of the Venus/Neptune link has heightened your perceptive skills. You could have your eyes closed today, and your insight would be perfect.
