TWO young men fronted Toowoomba court after police charged them for their alleged involvement in a violent robbery near Wuth Street Park in Drayton.

Officers arrested Jose De Oliveira and Frazad Goli hours after the incident on Tuesday morning, March 3, however, police are continuing to search for another two people.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said the incident happened just after midnight when two people parked in a car were approached by four men.

“They demanded their phones and one male from the offending vehicle produced a baseball bat and smashed a rear window,” he said.

Police allege the driver was also hit with the bat but was not seriously injured.

The victims had then driven away.

Officers from the Toowoomba Criminal Investigation Branch and the Child Protection Investigation Unit located the alleged offenders’ vehicle a short time later and took Mr De Oliveira and Mr Goli into custody.

The pair fronted Toowoomba Magistrate Court on Tuesday afternoon and had their matters adjourned to the following Wednesday, where they will likely apply for bail.

Mr De Oliveira fronted court charged with assault causing bodily harm while armed in company, attempted robbery with violence while armed in company, and entering a premises to commit an indictable offence.

Mr Goli represented himself in court, charged with assault causing bodily harm while armed in company, attempted robbery with violence while armed in company, entering a premise to commit an indictable offence, and possessing a drug pipe or utensil.

When the pair did apply for bail at court, Sergeant McCusker said police would fight against it.
