Tradie in court for allegedly sharing ex’s nude pics to Facebook

A TOOWOOMBA man has been granted bail after he was arrested for allegedly committing very public and sinister acts of domestic violence.

The tradesman appeared in court on Monday, March 13, via video link from the watch house sporting a black eye.

He was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, and distributing intimate images – both of which were classified as domestic violence offences.

The court was told the tradesman and his ex-partner got into a fight at a Toowoomba school after the man told the woman not to pick up his son from school.

The woman, who was not the child’s mother and separated from the man, attended the school which sparked an argument between the pair.

Solicitor Claire Graham said the pair took off in their respective cars and began arguing on the phone while driving.

Police prosecutor Bettina Trenear alleged the man followed the woman, ran a red light, and crashed into her car in front of a police station.

Ms Graham said the man had instructed her that it had been the woman who hit his car, and that was the only charge he planned to dispute.

Ms Trenear said when the woman was inside a police station speaking to officers, the man posted intimate photos of her to her Facebook timeline, however, no one else had seen them as they needed to be approved by the woman.

Ms Trenear opposed the man’s bail, stating there was an unacceptable risk that he would continue to commit further acts of domestic violence against his girlfriend, who was in a state of fear and panic.

Magistrate Louise Shephard told the man the allegations were extremely serious, especially the alleged dangerous operation of his vehicle and menacing behaviour of sharing intimate photos.

Ms Shephard said there were a number of ways to mitigate that risk and noted the man was the sole career of his young son who had no one else to care for him.

The man’s bail was granted with strict conditions which included an GPS monitor, weekly reporting conditions, and adhering to everything in his mental health plan, including medication.

Ms Shephard asked the prosecution to disclose CCTV footage of the crash to the man’s legal team and set the case aside to be mentioned on April 3.
