- DARCY JENNINGS

CRICKET: The Toowoomba cricket two-day semi-finals are here.

The number one teams in each division automatically booked their grand final spots, but there is still everything to play for.

A, B, C and Reserve grade finals will be played this Saturday and Sunday and the action will be thrilling.

Ahead of the big matches The Chronicle has run the rule over each semi-finalist team to find our top 16 players to watch.

Sam Titterton (Western Districts Reserve-grade): Coming off a phenomenal regular season with the ball, Titterton took 26 polls this season at 5.38. Capable of swinging the ball both ways and consistently hitting a length, watch out for him to take wickets early in his spell.

Paul Toohey (Met-Easts Reserve grade): Described as having an “experienced head on him”, Toohey joined Met-Easts for the two-day comp. With 10 wickets to his name this season, he is a very consistent and a handy right-arm off-spinner.

David Canning (Highfields Railways B-grade): Coming in to bat at number five or six, Canning has great discipline at the crease. Able to bat for time and slowly grind out the runs, Canning is always difficult to get out.

Daniel Faulkner (Northern Brothers Diggers C-grade): A constant threat when he has the ball, Faulkner regularly bowls long spells and is very good at holding an end. He has claimed 14 wickets this season and will surely add to his tally come the weekend.
