Grace is fighting hard
A TEENAGE girl seriously injured in a horrific crash in Toowoomba on Saturday morning is improving in hospital after surviving six different surgeries.
The family and friends of Grace Farley have revealed an update on the 18year-old’s condition, after she suffered “significant multi-system trauma” in the collision along Mackenzie St in East Toowoomba just after midnight.
She was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Sunday, suffering a multitude of injuries.
In a GoFundMe page posted to help cover future medical expenses, family friend and organiser Ruby Day said Ms Farley’s condition had improved since Sunday.
“As you all know Grace is the most kind, genuine person and doesn’t deserve to be in the current state she is in,” Ms Day wrote.
“Although her injuries are extreme she has overcome two of the main injuries that were playing the main factors in killing her.
“She has become somewhat stable and being prepared for what will be her seventh surgery (Monday) some time.
“Grace is a fighter to say the least.” Ms Day was contacted for comment. The 20-year-old man driving the car, who was reportedly giving Ms Farley and her a friend a lift home the night of the incident, was taken to hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition.
Ms Farley’s friend, who is also 18, was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
The friend described to News Corp the moment she found Ms Farley just minutes after the incident.
“I saw her lying down on the ground (on the road), moaning with pain – she couldn’t move, couldn’t talk,” the girl said.
A spokeswoman from Metro South Health confirmed Ms Farley was now in a critical but stable condition.
The Queensland Police said the forensic crash unit was still investigating the crash.
