LORRAINE Jarvis has been playing bingo at the Toowoomba Sports Club for 20 years and she never thought she would take out the major jackpot.

Ms Jarvis defied the one-in-a-million odds to win $85,000 during a game of Big Bucks Bingo’s Hot Ball Bingo.

Ms Jarvis sat at the club for about an hour after her win trying to process what had just happened. The most she had ever won in her life was $1000.

“I probably come here two to three times a week. For the social aspect, just a little social club here, it’s lovely,” she said.

“If you get your money back it’s a bonus.”

While Ms Jarvis plans to think about what she wants to spend her winnings on, she does plan to get herself a Dyson vacuum cleaner.

Bingo caller Wendy Mcerlean was just as excited when the word “jackpot” came across the screen.

“This would be the biggest win there has ever been in Toowoomba on bingo,” she said.

“I went screaming down the escalator and screaming into the office, it was very exciting.”

Ms Jarvis’ now lucky numbers were 8, 13, 36, 61 and 63.
