FORMER Penrith forward Chris Grevsmuhl will be handed a second chance at an NRL career, after the Titans signed him to a two-year deal.

Grevsmuhl will officially join the Gold Coast this week after he was released from his Panthers contract at the end of last year due to personal issues.

The club confirmed the signing yesterday and revealed it had been working with the 24-year-old in recent weeks to set up an appropriate support network around him.

Coach Neil Henry said in a statement that Townsville-born Grevsmuhl deserved a chance to resurrect his NRL career.

“Chris has obviously had some personal issues that he has had to deal with over the last few months and as a club we’ve taken our time to work with him to get the best results for everyone,” he said.

“Whilst we know the talents Chris has on the field, we will continue to assist him in all areas of his life, both on and off the field.”

THE Cowboys have moved to fill the void left by the departed James Tamou by officially announcing they had signed Storm prop Jordan McLean on a three-year deal from 2018.

The signing of the 25-year-old is a huge coup for the Cowboys, who want to improve their forward depth,

Storm captain Cameron Smith said McLean would be a “huge loss” for Melbourne.

“I can’t lie,” he said. “Jordan might play a slightly different role for the Cowboys but he will be a great foil for Matt Scott.

“He has been outstanding for us in the first three rounds, especially with Jesse Bromwich going down with his hand injury.”
