ZOMBIES TAKE OVER THE STREETS
TOOWOOMBA’S CBD was overrun with the walking dead at dusk on Saturday in the name of saving lives, not taking them.
The fourth annual Zombie Walk wound its way from St Saviour’s Primary School through the CBD, raising funds for the Give Me Five For Kids Appeal.
For Laidley woman Kate Keates, raising funds for health services was a cause that hit close to home, and being able to dress up in disguise was an added bonus.
Ms Keates, whose son has a stent in his heart, said it was worth the full day of preparations.
Jasmine Quarman from the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation said the atmosphere was electric, and it was great to see families enjoying the night out and activities on offer.
“It’s all for a great cause – it’s raising money for the Give Me Five For Kids Appeal,” she said.
Organisers said about 1000 people took part in the charitable walk, with fundraising figures on track to cap last year’s record total of $11,000.
Dale Lawson travelled to Toowoomba to take part in the walk, and said it was a great chance to support the hospital.
His intestinal-bearing costume was inspired by The Walking Dead and Zombieland.
