Thunder hit SC for 9

- Anton Rose anton.rose@thechronicle.com.au

Sometimes a big defeat is just what you need to wake you up.

The South-West Thunder women found the perfect remedy to atone for its 8-1 opening round National Premier Leagues Queensland loss, running out to a 9-2 win over Sunshine Coast at the weekend to claim a first win of 2017.

Seven different goal-scorers highlighted what was a near-perfect display for the Thunder, with new recruit Louise Rolfe smashing a hat-trick in her first home appearance for the club.

“That made us really happy,” Thunder assistant coach Anthony Bigby said.

“Louise (Rolfe) got three which was fantastic for her but it was a nice way to bounce back from the game the week before where the scoreline went the other way.

“The girls now know what it takes to play at the NPL level.”
