Gifted specialist named new director of medicine
NEWLY-appointed Toowoomba Hospital director of medicine and senior staff specialist physician Dr Casey Khoo is set to bring a wealth of experience and a vision of continual expansion and improvement for the hospital’s medical division.
“I was originally from the UK where I did my undergraduate, postgraduate, research and specialist training in respiratory, sleep and general medicine,” Dr Khoo said.
“I spent many years in major tertiary teaching hospitals, training under many different professors of medicine, then became a consultant respiratory and general physician initially in a regional hospital in Wales and later in England before my Queenslander wife wanted our family to return to Queensland.
“Before coming to Toowoomba I had eight years with Fraser Coast, then Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service as director of medicine for Hervey Bay and Maryborough hospitals, director of physician training, and for short time in 2015 I was also acting director of medicine for Bundaberg Hospital.”
Dr Khoo chaired the stroke steering committee and the endoscopy steering committee while at WBHHS and is a current executive member of the state-wide clinical network forum for medicine, in the healthcare improvement unit, clinical excellence division.
He said the Toowoomba Hospital’s medical division had a wonderful reputation.
