Anzac MC
I WOULD like to thank Paddy Boxall for his tribute (Letters, TC, 28/4).
But his comment about me indicating I was stepping back from Anzac Day duties is not correct.
I have never at any time during the planning meetings for 2017, from some of which I have been excluded, did I ever indicate stepping back.
In fact I was very vocal and made it quite plain that it was my desire to MC the dawn, wreath-laying and mid morning services again this year as in previous years.
His comment about the need for younger people to step up is very true and I would point out that you don’t have to be an ex-service person.
The planning committee or group as it is now referred to has always been made up of a number of like-minded citizens coming together to plan the commemoration and remembrance of the servicemen and women who have paid the supreme sacrifice thus enabling us to enjoy the wonderful freedom that we do. — BILL HILLS, OAM, Rangeville
