TOOWOOMBA Tigers have the chance to build on their promising start to the AFL Darling Downs season when they host Coolaroo in their division one match at Rockville Park today.

Tigers missed the finals last year but got this year’s campaign for finals footy away in style with a win over Goondiwindi in round one.

Their next test comes by way of cross-town rival Coolaroo, which also started the season with a win last weekend.

Whichever team can win to move to a 2-0 record will have a great platform to

build on for the rest of the season.

University is also at home and will be keen to kick straighter when the defending premiers host South Burnett at USQ.

The Cougars downed South Toowoomba in last weekend’s grand final rematch but finished with double the number of behinds to goals leaving Uni with accuracy in front of goal to work on against the Saints.

Round one losers Goondiwindi and Souths also face off in round two.

Warwick starts its season in division two when the Redbacks host Lockyer Valley today.

Meanwhile, Dalby will attempt to claim a big scalp early in the women’s season when the Swans take on two-time defending premiers Toowoomba Tigers at Rockville Park.

Dalby posted a strong win in round one so confidence should be up heading into the game against the women’s competition heavyweight.
