CROQUET: Have you ever wondered what the long-held attraction of croquet is?

Well, if you have, next Saturday could be the day to have your curiosity answered when Toowoomba joins World Croquet Day.

The day is designed to showcase croquet to all interested people and potential new players.

Toowoomba’s three croquet clubs — Laurel Bank, West Toowoomba and Toowoomba — are all open to the public on the day.

The Toowoomba club in Lindsay St (pictured) will host the event from 8am to noon.

Laurel Bank will take over from 1-5pm with the floodlit West Toowoomba club open from 6-9pm.

Toowoomba Croquet Club president Paul Reynolds said the day was open to all ages from about 12 years up.

“People are encouraged to come and try croquet with the aim of getting more people involved in the sport,” Reynolds said.
