IN CELEBRATION of the Empire Theatres’ 20th anniversary season, they are throwing open the doors to give the community a rare chance to peek behind the curtain.
The day will give those familiar with the theatre and perhaps those who aren’t so familiar the opportunity to take in performances, workshops, screenings, tours and demonstrations, face painting and even a few secret surprises. 2. THIS event has been described by organisers as one of the greatest Toowoomba has ever seen.
There will be wine, beer, cocktails, champagne and mouth-watering food stalls. 3. Miniature Steam Train and Model T Bus rides

2pm WHERE: Highfields Pioneer Village
COME and ride Myrtle May the Miniature Steam Train.
The train runs on a 10-and-quarter inch gauge circular track with three passenger carriages and take up to 20 people at any one time.
There will also be a vintage bus ride on Henry the Model T Ford Bus built in 1924, which takes 12 passengers at once.
Billy tea and damper, drinks and ice-blocks will be available and a sausage sizzle will be held at lunch time.
Tickets are $3 per child and $5 for adults.

AUTHOR Peter Carnavas is in Toowoomba working with the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra to bring his story The Great Expedition to life.
