- Charlotte Lam charlotte.lam@thechronicle.com.au

GREAT dane Bonnie was the star of an important meeting at disability services organisation YellowBridge yesterday.

She sat patiently next to her owner, general manager of the disability support team Jodie Collins, and quietly watched.

YellowBridge then rolled out the red carpet for 15 of its staff and clients’ pooches to celebrate Bring Your Dog to Work Day yesterday.

The red carpet walk, dog and owner look-alike competition and obstacle course was held at Laurel Bank Park, just behind YellowBridge’s office on Hill St. All money raised went to RSPCA Toowoomba.

Mrs Collins said the day was also part of the not-for-profit organisation’s Safe and Well Program.

“It’s about celebrating our relationships with our dogs as well as our workplace,” she said.

“I’ve never seen so many happy smiles in the workplace as we have today.”

Mrs Collins’ great dane Bonnie is three years old.

“She has a brother at home called Hank,” Mrs Collins said.

“My husband and I don’t have children so Bonnie and Hank are our children so they’re really spoilt and bring heaps of fun and joy, as well as exercise.”
