Big fight a draw
The middleweight superfight between Gennady Golovkin and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas has been declared a draw. The result means that ‘GGG’ Golovkin retains his three world middleweight titles. Billed the fight of the year, the battle lived up to the hype as both men traded blows for 12 enthralling rounds. The 35-year-old Golovkin, making his Las Vegas debut, kept his WBC, WBA and IBF belts. But the judges could not agree, with one awarding it to Canelo 118-110, another to Golovkin 115-114 and a third making it 114-114. Both want a rematch.
