Redknapp booted

Veteran manager Harry Redknapp has been axed as manager of second-tier English club Birmingham City. Redknapp, who has managed Tottenham, Portsmouth and Southampton and others in a lengthy career, was told of the club’s decision after a 3-1 home defeat by Preston. The 70-year-old was hailed a saviour after keeping the team in the Championship last season. But despite a number of signings in the transfer window, the Blues have lost six games in a row and have just four points from eight league matches.
