Region has talent to spare

THE Toowoomba region has always been a hothouse for talent - for sport, business, the arts and many other areas.

Today The Chronicle celebrates two of our brightest and best - and youngest.

Tayla Crotty is a Toowoomba singer on her way to stardom, landing a record deal with Sony Music after winning an online competition.

Tayla, who goes by the name of Tayla Mae, was the winner of an Australia-wide competition, The ShareSpace, which is a music collaboration and talent development program broadcast through an original content series on YouTube.

The program ran for 30 days and was hosted by singers Jai Waetford and Alli Simpson.

And one of Allora’s most inventive young students has been awarded a trip to NASA and the title of National Winner in Origin’s littleBIGidea competition.

Jasmine Eldridge, 12, from Allora State School was named the national winner in the Year 7 – 8 category from more than 1000 entries received nationally.

Jasmine’s littleBIGidea entry, Dog of Technology (D.O.T), is designed as an aid to assist children like herself with autism.

These are only two of hundreds of bright youngsters from our region who are so incredibly versatile and talented.
