Poll shocker puts Turnbull at risk
MALCOLM Turnbull’s rank as preferred prime minister has plunged five points to 36 per cent in the latest Newspoll, fuelling speculation he could be replaced by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop. Mr Turnbull still leads Opposition Leader Bill Shorten – who is up one point to 34 per cent – but the poll shows voters prefer Ms Bishop (pictured) over Mr Turnbull as Liberal leader, 40–27 per cent. It also shows the Coalition slipping further behind Labor in two-party preferred terms, 45–55 per cent, and the Coalition’s primary vote sliding one point to only 34 per cent.
