A SPOKESWOMAN for Bunnings has clarified reports yesterday that 20 staff members were laid off from a Toowoomba store.

The reports suggested that staff members were let go from the new store on the corner of Ruthven and Bridge Sts after another Toowoomba business confirmed it received a number of resumes from former employees.

One former worker had told the Toowoomba business they were one of 20 to be let go from the new store.

Bunnings Queensland operations manager Margaret Walford confirmed any employee who may have left the the store would likely be one employed temporarily over the hectic Christmas holiday shopping period.

“We would like to clarify that all team members at Bunnings Warehouse Toowoomba North remain part of the Bunnings team,” Ms Walford said.

“In line with the nature of casual employment, Bunnings Warehouse employs casual team members to assist with varying trading patterns.”
