ST MARY'S FORMAL GLAMOUR
IT WAS all about “style upon arrival” as the young men of St Mary’s College graced the red carpet with their partners at Picnic Point last Friday.
The boys arrived in a variety of old-fashioned and modern vehicles and exited in their best suits, colourful ties and shiny black shoes. Their partners walked the carpet with elegance, glamour and style.
“The college formal is a significant rite of passage for our senior boys where they have the opportunity to sit down to a formal dinner, dance with a partner and continue to build upon their already well-established friendships and sense of camaraderie while having lots of fun,” principal Michael Newman said.
Old Boy and chairman of Heritage Bank Kerry Betros gave the occasional address.
His humorous and inspirational address gave the boys and their partners a few practical tips for their lives beyond the gates of the college.
Mr Newman spoke about how proud he was to have been the principal to the Year 12 boys for their whole education, from Year 5.
“To see each of these boys grow into the fine young men they are today is a great credit to their wonderful parents, professional and generous teachers at St Mary’s College and a true reflection of the goodness radiating from each of them,” he said.
