Pup-napped pooch back with owner

-

A TRUCKIE has been reunited with her best friend after he was pup-napped in Goondiwindi.

About noon on April 20, the 54-year-old interstate truck driver tied her fox terrier cross Jack Russell, Grub, to a post outside a café at a truck stop and went inside.

A short time later the woman came out and was devastated to find Grub had been taken off its lead and was missing.

After she was unable to find her dog, she went to police.

On April 23, Toowoomba police spoke to a man sitting in a truck on Bridge St who had an eager foxie sitting next to him in the cab.

The 67-year-old man was arrested regarding unrelated matters and was taken to Toowoomba watch house.

While police were making arrangements for someone to care for the dog, members of the public came and assisted police in identifying the dog after seeing posts on social media reporting him stolen.

Police were then able to contact Grub’s grateful owner. The Toowoomba man was charged with stealing and appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday.
