Toowoomba comes alive in September

-

WHILE the Heritage Bank Festival of Food and Wine is sure to be one of the highlights of the 69th annual Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, there will be plenty more to see and do when the carnival comes to town from September 21 - 30.

The Chronicle Garden Competition draws more than 30,000 visitors through the winning gardens at carnival time, turning the more than 100 gardeners who enter the competition into the region’s largest ambassadors.

Two headline chefs, Adam Liaw and Julia Busuttil Nishimura will help celebrate the local flavours of the carnival.

Liaw is an author, cook, host of Destination Flavour, culinary contributor and winner of Masterchef Australia 2010, while Nishimura will be the special guest chef at The Chef ’s Brunch in the leafy surrounds of Gip’s Restaurant.

A stunning new event for 2018 is The Night Garden, powered by Ergon Energy. Based in Queens Park, The Night Garden is a magical creation featuring floral and lighting displays and experiences, to be held over five nights from September 26 to 30.

The 69th Grand Central Floral Parade will be held on Saturday, September 22. It is expected to attract more than 70 floats and more than 100,000 spectators.
