Library late-fee amnesty begins

SOUTHERN DOWNS: Southern Downs Regional Council won’t charge library borrowers a fee if they return their books late in May, but there is a catch to the late fee amnesty.

Instead of the fee, libraries will accept warm items of clothing, such as socks, mittens, beanies, scarves, jumpers, shawls, flannelette pyjamas, blankets, or bedding.

All donated items must be new and in the original packaging or with the price tag attached.

The items will then be donated to the Salvation Army.
