Drawings, pottery on show
A FORMER Toowoomba children’s author, illustrator, teacher and artist is preparing to host an exhibition of her drawings and watercolour works.
Rebecca Berrett will have the exhibition alongside a former geologistturn-potter Janet White who will be displaying her eclectic raku ware and stoneware collection.
Both women have an extensive careers in their chosen fields.
Ms Berrett lived in Toowoomba for more than 20 years and is an arts tutor with more than 35 years experience. She has taught at CQ University in Bundaberg, the University of Queensland McGregor Schools, Toowoomba TAFE and the Westbrook Youth Centre.
Ms Berrett has had several solo exhibitions and group exhibitions as an artists and book illustrator. She has been been represented by Art On Cairncross Gallery at Maleny for more than 20 years and has work in private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, Germany, Netherlands, Latvia, Denmark, the UK, Canada, the US, Sweden and Italy.
Ms White was originally a geologist and started potting in 2003 in Nevada in the US. She is a former member of the Stanthorpe Pottery Club and had her first solo exhibition in 2016 at the Artists’ Collective Studio at Tenterfield. The exhibition opens on Friday, April 27 from 5.30pm at the Artists’ Collective Studio, 1/199 Rouse St, Tenterfield. It runs until Sunday, June 3. For more call 0410 025 519.
