Bus comes to fiery end after turn mishap
A BUS driver was lucky to escape unscathed after her bus caught on fire at Elanora yesterday morning.
She had tried to do a threepoint turn but her vehicle’s wheels got stuck on the side of the road, causing the back to go up in flames.
Paul Veal came across the fiery situation on Guineas Creek Rd about 11.45am.
“I came over the hill and the bus was on fire,” the 47-yearold Tallebudgera resident said. Mr Veal called 000 before capturing the scene on camera.
“I was only there for five minutes but you could see the flames,” he said. “There was also a lot of black smoke. It went up pretty quick.”
Firefighters extinguished the fire in just 10 minutes.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said the cause of the fire was unknown.
“There was only the driver on-board,” she said.
