Pro surfer Sally appy to lead workout
PRO surfer Sally Fitzgibbons has a vital job to do before she can take to the water at next month’s Roxy Pro – get Gold Coasters into shape.
The entrepreneurial 26year-old will lead a fitness workout for hundreds of people at Broadbeach’s Kurrawa Park on Saturday, March 11, just three days before she starts her pursuit of a maiden world title at Snapper Rocks.
The 45-minute session is the first of six such events Fitzgibbons will host in Australia, the US and Portugal as part of the launch of her All Australian Beach Body app, which taps into the training and dietary expertise of one of surfing’s most finely-tuned athletes.
“It may come as a surprise to people how much we do train to be surfing at our best and that will come through in the variety of workouts we do,” she said.
“Not everyone can jump on a surfboard but the app sees people attached to one of my training workouts and get an idea of where I’ve come from … I’m so passionate about training so it was always going to be one of the first products that came out of my business.”
That business is Fitzgibbons International, which the surfer has founded to capitalise on the profile she has gained as one of the sport’s most talented, articulate and photogenic competitors.
“I love that there have been so many phases and opportunities that have come from my sporting world,” she said.
“I never thought I’d end up here – but I just have belief in myself that I can learn more.”
The All Australian Beach Body app allows members to access several 12-week training programs, with two distinct styles on offer – body weight (no equipment) and gymbased.
