Perrin loan case settled
LIQUIDATORS chasing a $4 million loan from jailed businessman Matthew Perrin to motorcycling champion Mick Doohan have settled.
The Supreme Court in Brisbane was to decide the matter at trial with liquidator Julie Williams chasing two companies linked to Doohan that received the money in the dying days of Perrin’s high-rolling business empire in 2009.
Ms Williams had claimed $4 million plus interest from January 2009, arguing the transaction was “voidable” as the money should have gone to all creditors.
Court documents show Ms Williams has now settled the matter against the companies and the case was yesterday adjourned pending payment of an agreed amount.
Lawyers for the liquidator yesterday told the court there was now no use in pursuing Perrin over the deal, given he was serving an eight-year jail sentence for fraud.
