All bets are off for players, says Inglis
NRL superstar Greg Inglis says there are “no excuses” for any player caught breaching the rules by betting on games of rugby league.
NSW Police are investigating the Tim Simona betting scandal after the NRL handed over documents relating to the Wests Tigers centre’s betting activity.
Sources confirmed yesterday that NRL Integrity Unit senior investigator Karyn Murphy had met detectives and handed over information that related to the allegations against the centre.
Simona faces fresh allegations that he arranged bets to be placed on opposition players he was marking to score tries against his team.
“It’s black and white. If you play in the game, you don’t bet. There is no excuse,” Inglis said when asked at yesterday’s NRL season launch.
“You don’t bet on any games all the way from the under-7s through to the top grade.”
