Blackout in suburbs

MORE than 2000 homes were left without power yesterday afternoon on the Gold Coast.

The blackout meant nearly 1500 homes in Benowa were without power for three hours or more while in Bundall 398 homes were affected. Ashmore had 310 homes without power while Southport had just one home affected.

The outage lasted until 6pm for most homes, with the latest homes being switched back on by 7.11pm. Energex technicians are continuing to investigate.

The blackout affected the intersection of Ashmore Rd and Ross St where police were called to direct traffic.
