Just admit it

SUSSAN Ley still doesn’t get it. Even after being caught with her hand in the cookie jar of taxpayer-funded entitlements, she can’t bring herself to admit she was wrong.

Ms Ley is the former federal minister who happened to randomly buy an $800,000 unit during one of her many taxpayer-funded trips to the Gold Coast.

It wasn’t a personal trip to buy property – she just happened to be passing an auction and stuck her hand up.

Yesterday she said her resignation wasn’t a result of any wrongdoing. Oh no, she quit “because the facts could not overcome the story”.

Contrary to what many politicians believe, saying so doesn’t make it so.
