Langman could make miracle recovery for Fever clash

-

TOUGH Sunshine Coast playmaker Laura Langman could be a shock starter for the Lightning in the Super Netball clash with West Coast in Perth tomorrow night.

Langman suffered a badly dislocated left index finger in the stunning win over Collingwood last weekend but will still be named in the Sunshine Coast squad for the trip west.

Langman will wear a special brace on the finger if she plays against the Fever after scans revealed the damage was not as bad as first feared.

She did not train yesterday but will have a hitout in Perth. The Lightning hope she may be able to handle the ball and then pass with her preferred right hand.

Lightning coach Noeline Taurua said a final decision on Langman would be made closer to the first pass against West Coast, who broke through for their first win of the season against NSW Swifts last week.

“I’m really happy with how she has recovered. (We) want to get her on court as fast as possible,’’ Taurua said.

“It was hard to get her off the court in the first instance.

“She’s a competitor, a fierce competitor.”
