RAW COOKIES A SIMPLY DOUGH-LICIOUS IDEA

-

emily.selleck@news.com.au business, Just Dough It, debuted at Helensvale’s Night Quarter last week.

“There’s a store in America that sells cookie dough and people love it but we had nothing like that in Australia,” Mr McFarlane said.

“I saw this niche market and just went for it.

“It’s definitely nostalgic for a lot of people because it takes you back to your childhood when your mum would make cookies and you’d grab the spatula and eat from the bowl.

“We want to bring that indulgence back.”

It’s not advisable to eat regular cookie dough because uncooked eggs can carry salmonella and raw flour can be contaminated by E. coli. Both risks are removed by baking.

Mr McFarlane and partner Caitlynn Henry solved both these problems before launching Just Dough It.

“Unlike cookie dough you buy from supermarkets, this is safe to eat,” he said.

“We heat-treat the flour and there are no eggs in it.”
