The court heard Toalei committed the offences several days after being released on parole for a siege at a Gold Coast property where he held a woman hostage and discharged a firearm twice.

After being arrested over the 2013 rampage, the court heard he wrote to two friends while on remand telling them: “(The rampage) would have gone down no matter what”.

“I’ve been nothing but a soldier for this club,” he wrote in 2013.

The letters were found by guards in his cell before being sent.
