Eddie puts faith in Buckley to step up
out. And our time is to stand up now because we owe our supporters. We really do.” McGuire said on Triple M.
“Geelong are a great club. They might beat us. But I tell you what, it will be the spirit of Collingwood that will be tested on Sunday. I hope like hell that we get up and win.”
Vice-captain Taylor Adams says it “hurts” him to think about what Buckley is going through as he again went into bat for the embattled coach.
Adams said he complimented Buckley on how he had handled himself in the lead up to the Magpies’ Anzac Day clash with Essendon, saying it was “as good as I’ve seen”.
The midfielder said the playing group was with their coach “all the way” and it was up to them to lift Collingwood out of its current rut.
“He won’t get sacked,” Adams said on RSN 927.
“That’s actually not going to happen. We’re with him the whole way, we back him as a coach, we back his whole coaching group and I know that the board is exactly the same.
“Bucks can’t do anything more. It’s down to us players and it’s down to the key contests we’re losing and the turnovers we’re committing and the one-percenters that we’re missing and the actions that are happening on game day.”
