EMILY CHASING SUPER CROWN

- EMILY SELLECK emily.selleck@news.com.au

SCHOOLGIRL Emily Norris-Perkins is about to take on the world.

The 17-year-old St Stephen’s College student is heading to Macau at the end of the month for the World Supermodel pageant after being crowned World Supermodel South Pacific in Fiji in January.

Emily will compete in the teenage category, for 16-19-year-olds.

And all this for a girl that has never modelled before.

“In October last year I entered the World Supermodel South Pacific competition online where the first round of judging took place,” she said.

“I was accepted to compete in Fiji against about 11 other girls from Australia, Fiji, the Cook Islands and a few other countries.

“I was the only girl without modelling experience. All the other girls had done modelling before or were ‘Instagram famous’.

“It was so shocking that I ended up winning.”

Emily’s time in Fiji wasn’t all beach parties and colourful cocktails.

“Some of the challenges included an underwater photoshoot in a pool and on an island reef at Paradise Beach,” she said of the four-day trip.

“We also got judged on our swimwear, evening gown and an interview where they marked us on how we presented ourselves.

“I think the difference between World Supermodel and other pageants is that this is more focused on modelling rather than charity work or anything like that.”

“I’m really excited to go to China,” she said.

“My school has been really happy to work around the competition. I come back to Australia the day of my exam block so they’ve changed some of my final exams around, which is great.”
