“It’s definitely starting to become a bigger part of the wedding scene,” she said.
Damien and Cassie McGregor-Lowndes said they could not walk down the aisle without knowing their fur-baby George was there to share their day.
The two hired First Class Pet Wedding Assistants to look after their labrador cross poodle.
“He didn’t have a particular role,” Mr McGregorLowndes said. “He was just part of the family, so we had him involved.
“I am sure a lot of people have thought about it but maybe didn’t know how to do it. It is not the most practical thing unless you have someone who can do everything for you.”
Kellie Burton, who used Love Laugh Play Pet Wedding Chauffeur, said having her two dogs, Chloe, a border collie and Maximus, a miniature-dachshund at her 2015 wedding was “very personal.”
Dogs were by far the most popular pet at weddings but the companies also catered for other animals.
