Sanctuary Cove gets ready to host 40,000
ryan.keen@news.com.au THE looming Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) is tipped to attract 40,000 visitors and inject about $148 million into the Gold Coast economy.
Three weeks out from the major boating showcase, SCIBS general manager Johan Hasser said the marine village had added 30 onwater berths and 2000 square metres of space for trailer-boat displays to accommodate exhibitors.
Last year’s show drew 40,000 through the gates during its four days and a $148m boost to the local economy and he anticipated similar numbers this year from May 25-28.
The show will feature national and international boat launches, luxury car displays, live music, a fishing competition and the latest gadgets and marine toys.
“Featuring everything from luxury superyachts and in-demand charter vessels, motor yachts, sailing boats and multihulls to jet skis, fishing boats, RIBs and the latest gear and gadgets, SCIBS caters to every level of interest and budget,” he said.
Bentley Brisbane, which has joined as a major SCIBS sponsor, will show off its new Continental Supersports, billed as the fastest four-seat car in the world.
The limited-edition model, priced upwards of $600,000, has a top speed of 336km per hour and goes from zero to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.
It will be SCIBS’ 29th year, having started when Sanctuary Cove first launched.
