HOMEBODII TO STEP OUT AT DJS

-

GOLD Coast sleepwear label Homebodii has landed in David Jones, with owner Ingrid Bonner saying it is an important step for her fastgrowing business.

But it is not the first time the major department store has professed interest in the local label.

“Homebodii is five years old now, and in year two they first approached the brand,” Ms Bonner said.

“We got to the final stages and it fell through, and at the time I was a bit disappointed.

“Towards the end of last year they came back knocking, and they hadn’t taken on a brand for 18 months.”

Ms Bonner said though she was very pleased with the way the business had expanded over the years, she was focused on keeping the label exclusive to a few select retailers.

“We’ve been very selective with who we’ve partnered with,” she said.

“Year on year we are doubling in growth, which gives us the opportunity to expand.”

Ms Bonner said she and the team would turn their energies to setting up a US warehouse later in the year.

“About 50 per cent of our sales are coming from international orders,” she said.
