NATIONAL SELECTORS IMPRESSED WITH CALETTI

-

six-day camp in Sydney starting on Sunday week.

Gombau will use the camp to settle on Australia’s squad for the 2018 Asian under-23 championship qualifiers in July in Myanmar.

“I am happy with this squad because most of the 24 players we have picked for this camp have been getting game time in the ALeague and a number of them have been playing in the first 11 which is important,” Gombau said.

They include former Australian under-17 captain Caletti, who started in a host of games in the latter stages of the Roar’s A-League season before coming off the bench in Brisbane’s 1-0 semifinal loss to Melbourne Victory last Sunday.

Caletti’s form has him on the verge of extending his stay in Brisbane, with Roar football director Craig Moore “very confident” he will stay.

The national under 23squad also includes former Roar pair Devante Clut and Lachlan Jackson, now both at Newcastle Jets.

VETERAN Roar defender Jade North has been named among the substitutes in Professional Footballers Australia A-League team of the year.
