NORTH Korea has confirmed the detention of another American citizen for alleged acts of hostility aimed at overthrowing the country.

With tensions in the region spiking during joint exercises between South Korean destroyers and the US Navy, the Korean Central News Agency revealed that university accounting instructor Kim Sang Dok was “intercepted” at Pyongyang Airport on April 22.

It said he was being detained while authorities conduct an investigation. The rogue state often attempts to use detainees to wrest outside concessions, which in the past have involved high-profile American missions.
