Former top cop sacked
THE former boss of the Gold Coast’s child protection investigation unit has been sacked for sexual harassment.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Jackson sexually harassed five female co-workers between 2012 and 2015 with a stream of vulgar, lewd and sexually charged comments.
It was last week revealed Detective Sen-Sgt Jackson was facing the sack over the incidents and a Queensland Police Service spokesman yesterday confirmed the 53-yearold had been dismissed.
Five women made complaints to the QPS internal affairs department, the Ethical Standards Command, concerning Detective Sen-Sgt Jackson’s behaviour over a prolonged period as he presided over the department, which protects some of our most vulnerable citizens.
While warning teens of the dangers of sexting and inappropriate relationships, he was making sexual comments and directing inappropriate language at three female officers and two State Government employees.
Detective Sen-Sgt Jackson had been transferred to another station in a non-supervising role during the investigation, but his employment has now been terminated after a 30-year career.
His sacking comes after a constable from Logan was last week suspended for allegedly grabbing the breast of a female officer, while a senior constable from Southport was sacked in March for improper sexual behaviour.
At this time, the constable is not facing criminal charges.
