Kathmandu share boost

KATHMANDU shares rallied after the adventure gear retailer’s sales grew strongly in the third quarter.

Kathmandu’s same store sales jumped 11.5 per cent in the 13 weeks to April 30 and total group sales rose 11.9 per cent due, the company said, to better promotions and strong sales of new products.

However, Kathmandu added that its winter sale in June and July will still be crucial to its full-year result.

Investors were impressed, driving the company’s shares up 9¢, or 4.79 per cent, to $1.97.

The company said it continues to invest in systems to boost its website.
