Karina’s eye on big prize

-

chief executive Brian Torpy had been extremely supportive of the team.

“This is the first women’s team at Easts Tigers and we’ve had a bit of a mix (of players), it’s a really broad spectrum and it’s really bringing all women into the game we love,” Brown said.

“The club has been amazing and that was one of the reasons I chose to go to Easts. They see the vision of where the game is going.”

At 28, Brown knows her opportunities to represent her state and country are dwindling and she’s determined to make the most of tonight’s Test – for herself and the game she loves.

“I’m 28 now, so I’m probably nearing the end and I know there’s some very talented girls coming up, so every game is definitely a blessing,” she said.

“Every game from here on in could be my last and I’m going to play it like it’s my last. Any opportunity we get to showcase the game we’re going to take with both hands.

“We want to show that it’s a great product and we want the fans to be involved and excited about it and they should, because we do put on a great show.”

Australia will take on a Kiwi side that has made several changes after its 3-0 drubbing at the Auckland Nines, although Brown said she was not concentrating on the Ferns’ personnel.

“I just focus on what we’re doing as a team,” Brown said.

“I’m really happy with our coach’s plans and I’m happy with the girls, everyone’s working really hard and I’m sure we’ll put together another great performance off the back of a great Nines performance.”
