GEITZ LEFT WITH THE MOTHER OF ALL DECISIONS

-

Games gold. Geitz’s last match was the double overtime grand final win with the Firebirds in 2016 which followed the 2015 title with Queensland and the World Cup victory with Australia when she was captain.

“I’m just taking bits and pieces from everyone that has retired or everyone that has an opinion,’’ Geitz said as a panellist on Channel 9’s Sports Sunday yesterday. ‘‘It is a decision that I am constantly agonising over because I genuinely just don’t know.

“I don’t think it’s safe right now to be making a decision on sleep deprivation.’’

With the 2018 Commonwealth Games looming large and the Diamonds being favourite for another gold medal as well as the prospect of helping the Firebirds return as a domestic powerhouse in Super Netball, the lures to return are significant for the 29-year-old.

She said memories of past glories made a comeback tempting — to an extent.

“I look at these sorts of things and nothing compares to those feelings, those emotions that you create with a great group of girls but at the same time, I’m so lucky that I’ve achieved a lot of things.’’

She said motherhood was “the best thing you can ever do’’ and was loving her role as “Team Girls” ambassador.
