Yesterday, in one of the biggest all-Mexican fights in history, super-middleweight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was untested in manhandling a tepid Julio Cesar Chavez Jr for 12 rounds to win a shutout decision.
The fight drew a sellout live crowd of 20,000 to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
A sellout of 55,000 is expected at Suncorp on July 2.
Horn will start sparring with unbeaten Brisbane southpaw Liam Paro today in preparation for facing Pacquiao in eight weeks.
Pacquiao is also due to start his intense training program today at the Elorde Boxing gym in Manila.
The eight-division world champion told Filipino website Philboxing.com that he started light training last week by doing roadwork, footwork drills and abdominal exercises.
“We are on schedule,” Pacquiao said, adding that he was concentrating on speed and stamina to give Horn his first defeat in professional ranks.
Pacquiao’s Canadian adviser Michael Koncz told the website all was on track for Pacquiao’s preparation.
