Ambo saves own life
A VICTORIAN paramedic who was having a massive heart attack has self-diagnosed and driven himself to hospital in his own ambulance.
David Watson said he felt symptoms of a heart attack while working solo in the small western Victorian town of Casterton and checked himself on an electrocardiography (ECG) machine.
“I quickly rushed in, grabbed the heart monitor from the ambulance, put myself on it,” he said.
When he saw the reading he thought, “Uh oh, that’s not right”. Already in the ambulance, he drove himself around the corner to the local hospital and was given drugs to clear the clot. He was flown to Geelong for further treatment.
