WANT TO HEAR A SUNNY STORY? SORRY, NOT TODAY

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND amanda.robbemond@news.com.au

SORRY to break this to you Gold Coast, but the sunny weather we all love will be hiding behind cloud cover and showers for the rest of the week.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Vinord Anand said troughs from upper Queensland were to blame for the bleak conditions.

“(The) trough will bring cloud cover, dragging moisture (south),” he said.

Mr Anand said only 25mm of rain was expected over the next four days, although more is forecast for the Hinterland.

Overnight, Springbrook received 59mm of rain. The rest of the Gold Coast had 32mm.

The temperatures during the day for the rest of the week will be up to 23C.

For keen surfers, waves nearly 2m high are forecast until midday today, with south easterly gusts up to 31 kilometres an hour.

Wendy Guidolin, of Surfers Paradise, said while she did not mind the wet weather, it was a different story for her dog Micky.

“He’s a bit fussy, he doesn’t like the rain,” she said. “If it’s not raining we’ll walk ... otherwise we’ll just do a short walk around the suburbs.”
