HENRY CELEBRATES FOURTH BIRTHDAY WITH BEAR NECESSITIES

-

Polar Bear Habitat, thousands of kilometres from Sea World where he spent the early years of his life.

But Henry couldn’t bear to think of the past, instead he tucked into an unusual serving of seal – one that contained no animal meats at all. Henry, it turns out, is not a vegetarian, he just doesn’t eat seal meat, the standard winter meal for polar bears.

Instead of the real thing, Henry tucked into a straw stuffed replica under a special birthday banner made from recycled materials.

At age four, Henry now weights 278 kilograms and stands at eight feet tall.

His keepers have described him as “maturing into a strong, energetic and very handsome young bear.”

“We look forward to watching him grow and mature in coming years,” the keepers said on Facebook.

Henry was born at Sea World in mid-2013 before moving to Canada in 2015.

It comes just days after Sea World announced the death of one of two 10-day-old baby polar bears.
